Achates Mastiffs is presently located in the Finger Lake Region of New York. We are owned by several English Mastiffs. Shiloh, Tucker, Peanut, Breez, Alani and Echo. These are only the latest in a long line who have come before them. Our first mastiff

(1983), and the one that got us into the breed, was a rescue dog. Gonzo was a mastiff of a broken home. When he came to us he was undernourished, had huge hot spots, and ears raw from flies. At the time I was only going to keep him until we could get him back to health and find a nice home for him. Needless to say he lived a wonderful life with our 3 sons, and left our hearts very heavy when that final day came. Gonzo lived to the age of 14. Gonzo's demeanor and loving character are the reason we are still in the breed today.
